  Problem/Question:
  DCC reads directories very slowly.
On larger directories sometimes it takes up to 30 seconds.

  Solution/Answer:
Probably the option <Check EXE-files for archives> (Archive options)
and/or the option <Show directory size> (Configuration) are turned on.
Both options my be turned off to increase performance.
To check EXE files for archives you can use F12.
F6 displays temporarily the size of the selected directory.
If DCC still seems to slow, please check the size of your overlay buffer
(Configuration). It should neither be to low nor to high.
A size of approx. 100000 Bytes has proven to be a good choice.

  Problem/Question:
DCC has trouble (re-)building the screen when the task manager
  of Novell DOS is active.

  Solution/Answer:
Use the default resolution of 80x25 and try to launch TASKMGR with the
  parameters /V /F.
If you are using the option <Graphical Dialogues>, these parameters are
  required by all means!

  ------------------------------------------------------------------
  Problem/Question:
The characters used for frames are not displayed correctly when
running DCC in a Windows or OS/2 DOS window.

  Solution/Answer:
This is normal, when the option <Graphical Dialogues> is turned on.
When turned off, all characters should be displayed as usual.
DOS Windows do not allow altered character sets.
When returning to fullscreen mode, all characters should be displayed
  as usual, too.

  Problem/Question:
The characters used for frames in the example dialogs of the online
  help are not displayed correctly.

  Solution/Answer:
This is normal, when the option <Graphical Dialogues> is turned on.
When turned off, all characters should be displayed as usual.
This "Bug" has no effect on the functonality of the online help.

  Problem/Question:
Several anti-virus programs report the presence of the TH-TH virus.

  Solution/Answer:
This is an known false alarm (especially from CPAV).
If you want to be *really* sure, check with another anti-virus program.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------
  Problem/Question:
When deleting directories a virus is reported.

  Solution/Answer:
This (false) error message is very likely in connection with a
  hardware-based anti-virus system.
Several BIOS revisions offer this kind of "protection".

However, we recommend to turn of this option in your BIOS setup.
Alternatively you can start DCC with the parameter /COMPDEL.
Note: This will slow down deleting of directories dramatically.

  Problem/Question:
I am having trouble with the screen display.

  Solution/Answer:
In most cases an exotic ANSI driver is responsible for this behaviour.

  ----------------------------------------------------------------

  Problem/Question:
On some PCs it may occur that DCC fails to detect extended keyboards
  (F11, F12 etc.) (e.g. Award BIOS)

  Solution/Answer:
Start DCC with the parameter /K

  Example:
  C:\DCC30>DC /K <RETURN>_

  ----------------------------------------------------------------

  Problem/Question:
DCC has problems accessing CDROM-drives, device drivers
  or network-based drives (Novell DOS)

  Solution/Answer:
Turn off the option <graph. mouse> under "Screen Setup"
  (no kidding :-) )
  ----------------------------------------------------------------

  Problem/Question:
The editor opens no files ("Could not open File ...")

  Solution/Answer:
Provide DCC more additional memory (XMS/EMS)

  ----------------------------------------------------------------

  Problem/Question:
My keyboard does not work properly.
Some keys are ignored ("swallowed") by DCC.

  Solution/Answer:
Try to use another keyboard driver.
DCC works corrctly with all commonly known DOS keyboard drivers.

  ----------------------------------------------------------------

  Problem/Question:
DCC reports "Disk unusable" after formtting a floppy disk, although
the disk is formatted correctly by the DOS formatting routine.

  Solution/Answer:
Remove all drivers which allow "high capacity formatting" (e.g. FDREAD)

  ----------------------------------------------------------------

  Problem/Question:
  DCC fails to unpack/decompress archives.

  Solution/Answer:
  1. Check the complete paths of the used archive programs in the
     configuration file ARCHIV.INI.
  2. To unpack an archive, you need to "enter" the archive (like a
directory) with a mouse doubleclick or <RETURN>.
Then you can select file(s) to be copied to another drive/directory.
  3. The archive program needs more memory. Please check if you can
provide DCC with more conventional memory.

  ----------------------------------------------------------------

  Problem/Question:
DCC occupies to much conventional memory.

  Solution/Answer:
If the option <Launch resident programs> is turned on,
DCC will remove itself completely from memory, thus freeing
  conventional memory (see also RESIDENT.INI).

  ----------------------------------------------------------------

  Problem/Question:
When I select menu items from the "Sample Menu" DCC only issues
an error message, but nothing else happens.

  Solution/Answer:
The provided menufile DCC.MNU is only an example of the possibilities
you have in order to define your own user menu.
Some of the menu options refer to independent external programs
which are not included in the DCC package.
Further it is assumed that all archivers and all anti-virus programs
  are set in your path.

  ----------------------------------------------------------------

  Problem/Question:
When starting DCC, only colored characters are displayed and
the system seems to be locked.

  Solution/Answer:
  Delete the file DCC.DSK andDCC.CFG.
Maybe you should check whether the "SET DCC=" in your autoexec.bat
refers to an older version of DCC.
